To get to Can Picafort
Fly to Palma de Mallorca airpot. From airport, you can take the public bus line number 1 to Plaza España where the Bus Station (Estació Intermodal) is. At the Bus Station, you can ask the number to Can Picafort, bus 390 is the bus number.Google map: Estació Intermodal

(Bus timetable changes during winter, as less tourists go to Can Picafort.) Please kindly check with your hotel in Can Picafort for up to date timetable.
Bus fare : Palma Airport - Plaza Espana is EUR5 per pax. You can get the ticket at the airport bus stop ticket machine.
Plaza Espana Bus Stop to Can Picafort is EUR13.50.
One of the unsual thing about this tournament is the round starting time.

Four rounds started at 8pm and ended almost midnight. The challenge is after four night rounds, the players have to adjust his routine back to morning session fairly quickly.
Tournament venue is located at the basement of the hotel. The room has no windows. If the weather outside is very cold or windy, the only door to outside air is closed. Hence, the room is not ventilated and warm, unless the air-conditioning is turned on. Air conditioning is normally not turned on unless requested by players.

Venue hotel is by the beach with blue sea. The view is magnificent !
Organizer could get very good hotel rate to stay at the venue : EUR35 for Full board (Buffet Breakfast, lunch and dinner included) on twin sharing basis per day.

The chessboard size is slightly smaller thant he standard tournament size. Plastic sheet and pieces are used. Top two boards uses wooden boards and chess pieces. No DGT boards are used.
The best thing about the tournament is the beach, beach walk and buffet. See photos below :
